Rethink: Urgent: Help Shape The Budget
We’re reposting this from Brian Dow, the Director of External Affairs from Rethink Mental Illness because of its importance and urgency:
“Crucial decisions on funding for mental health support will be made by the new Government in the next few weeks and we have a brilliant chance to influence them.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne MP, is due to present his first Budget to the new Parliament on Wednesday 8th July. The Treasury, the government department responsible for setting the Budget, is currently running a survey to get ideas on what should be included. You can take part in it here (Deadline 5th June).
This is a huge opportunity to press on the Government’s commitment to treat mental and physical health equally through fair funding.
This Treasury survey, which closes on Friday 5th June, asks for one or two suggestions from people about what they want to see in the Budget. You might want to ask for fair funding for mental health support across the board. You may want to share other priorities – what is important is that your voice is heard.
We are campaigning for fair funding over the coming weeks and there will be plenty more opportunities to get involved. We hope you will share your thoughts in this survey and help us keep the pressure up!
